Actress Tara Fitzgerald is making her debut with the Royal Shakespeare Company, playing Hermione in The Winter’s Tale.

She is probably best known for television shows such as Waking the Dead and The Body Farm – she played Dr Eve Lockhart – and she has just finished filming the third season of the American fantasy series Game of Thrones.

She has also appeared in films including Brassed Off, The Englishman who Went up a Hill but Came Down a Mountain and Sirens.

For a British Theatre Guide podcast, I spoke to Tara Fitzgerald before a performance at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford. She explained that there was nothing unusual about how she came to be playing the role.
