Nottingham playwright Amanda Whittington has no fewer than three new plays due to be performed at theatres around the country in the space of 12 months.

After receiving its premiere at Newcastle-under-Lyme’s New Vic, Amanda’s play The Thrill of Love about Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be hanged in this country, is to transfer to St James Theatre, London.

That will be followed by The Dug Out at the Tobacco Factory in Bristol. Early in 2014 Amanda’s play My Judy Garland Life will take to the Nottingham Playhouse stage.

For a British Theatre Guide podcast, I spoke to Amanda Whittington and asked her how she came to write those three plays and how long they had been in development.
